This cheerful little sunflower pocket-rocketed her way into our hearts and home just after her second birthday. Her registered name honours an all-female Tuareg music group, and she certainly lives every minute of life with the mantra: GIRLS…CAN…ROCK!!!

We call her PopTart, PopPop and Poppity Pop-Pop-Pop, because she just POPS up everywhere any of us is doing something. Especially if that something has anything remotely to do with food. And also on benches, windowsills, computer keyboards, the centre of card games… you know, the usual places you expect to find a 20kg sighthound.

She also adores two-legged human-style cuddles, and POP has become her command to let her know we’re “ready to receive”, as she places a feminine white paw on each shoulder and buries her bowed head fiercely into our chests. Life with her is like being in a 1980s Warner Brothers cartoon. She is always happy, always bouncy, always cheeky, and always, always has something to say: usually quite loudly!

The slightest attention sends her tail spinning helicopter style, so fast that if this were a cartoon her petite, golden bottom would start to lift off the ground. Her favourite place in the house is our bed, generally standing on her head, face upside-down, mouth open uttering all manner of ecstatic grunts and groans. She is willing to give anything a go, and dearly loves to please. Despite her wild exuberance, she has an air of sensibility in her (few) quieter moments, and promises great things for the future.
